Liz Hankin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a doctoral candidate at Alliant International University (formerly the California School of Professional Psychology) in Irvine, California. She completed her Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy at Drexel University in Philadelphia.
Ms. Hankin has extensive experience providing individual, group, and family therapy services for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disabilities, oncology, and reunification challenges. Specializing in solution-focused therapy, she also has a strong background in anxiety and grief management, as well as general therapy. Additionally, Ms. Hankin is EMDR trained and has specialized expertise in trauma therapy.
Throughout her career, Ms. Hankin played a key role in launching the in-school counseling program at Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Long Beach, in collaboration with the Hebrew Academy of Huntington Beach. Her global experience includes working with communities in India and Mexico to process trauma and grief, providing her with a unique perspective that informs her work with clients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Ms. Hankin’s research has centered around supporting the Autism community, particularly in helping individuals find their voice through technology. She was instrumental in organizing the first panel of Autism Spectrum Disorder experts to raise awareness and foster participation in a parent support group, which she also led. Ms. Hankin’s work also extends to BDSM-positive therapy, including the innovative use of art therapy.
Her clinical and research interests span oncology therapy, sex therapy, art therapy, play therapy, Autism Spectrum disorders and their impact on individuals and families, learning disabilities, substance abuse, stress management, anxiety reduction, improving interpersonal communication, and geriatric therapy.
