How the session goes will be contingent on your needs, capacity, and what you’re looking for. That latter part could be clear at the start or one that unfolds over time.

We can look for solutions and relief in the short term, or we can allot more time to truly understand and change a whole lifestyle or way of thinking.

I usually encourage my clients to try out several therapists to find the right fit. The right person at the right time can be transformative, but sometimes that doesn’t always line up. So trying out different fittings and perspectives can be worthwhile.

Generally, the approaches I utilize are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, and Existential forms of therapy with an emphasis on eliciting behavioral changes and finding out together how to garner the motivation to do so.

Professional experience

I have over 25 years of mental health work experience in various settings; from residential inpatient facilities to research centers, from hospitals and correctional centers to private practice and specialty clinics. I have a BA in psychology from Bard College and a Master of Science from Columbia University.

I use evidence-based practices as well as traditional mind-body approaches to help clients find the right balance and alleviate suffering.

I’ve practiced and taught meditation and martial arts for over 40 years and also work as an athletic trainer, personal trainer, and boxing coach.
