Pamela Baker, Psy.D., is a Licensed Psychologist with a deep commitment to supporting individuals of all ages in their mental health journeys. She earned her Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Psychology, with minors in Sociology and French, from the University of Miami. Pamela continued her academic path at Nova Southeastern University, where she completed both her Master’s (M.S.) and Doctoral (Psy.D.) degrees in Clinical Psychology. Pamela currently works with a diverse range of clients, including children, adolescents, and adults.
Her primary therapeutic orientation is rooted in Carl Rogers’ Humanistic Person-Centered counseling approach. Pamela believes that the therapeutic relationship is key to successful outcomes, emphasizing the importance of genuineness, unconditional positive regard, and deep empathic understanding. In this supportive climate, she helps clients engage in meaningful self-exploration of their thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, and worldviews, while also teaching them practical coping strategies for current and future challenges.
While Humanistic therapy defines Pamela’s general approach, she also utilizes a variety of evidence-based, empirically-supported interventions. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with an emphasis on Mindfulness practices to enhance emotional regulation and resilience.
Pamela has extensive experience treating anxiety disorders, mood disorders (e.g., Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder), behavioral issues, ADHD, grief, attachment concerns, LGBTQ+ issues, adjustment difficulties, couples and relational conflicts, family therapy, and trauma. She also has a particular passion for working with adolescent females, supporting them in building self-esteem, promoting a healthy body image, and fostering self-love.
Since the tragic events at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, Pamela has been actively involved in community outreach, striving to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health care, raising awareness about suicide prevention, and offering direct support to affected individuals and families. In addition to her therapeutic work, Dr. Baker offers a range of psychoeducational and psychological testing services, including evaluations for ADHD, gifted placement, IQ & achievement, behavioral concerns, academic difficulties, memory problems, attachment issues, emotional support animals, and court or job-required assessments.
